Figures released by Sustainable Energy Ireland show an increase in renewable contribution to electricity. Wind generation was primarily responsible for this. Irish renewable energy case studies are growing all the time.
But solar power in Ireland continues to trail behind many of its European partners.
Also, Ireland's energy use continues to produce large quantities of carbon dioxide, which contributes to climate change. So it is important that the recent uptake of renewable energy technologies such as solar power continues at least at its current rate and accelerates in an upward curve.
Sustainable Energy Ireland, established in 2002 to promote and develop irish renewable energy case studies, is funded by the Irish Government under the National Development Plan.
Sustainable Energy Ireland operates a number of programs that provide financial assistance for homeowners in the form of grants. These grants will allow Ireland to become a leader in solar power and renewable energy.
Homeowners who convert to selected solar power systems can now claim grants for their installation. The grants will pay out €1,000 to €6,500, depending on the system used.
And homeowners who install them can also look forward to greatly reduced fuel bills and a nice warm feeling that they are actually doing something to help our planet.
