New Zealanders are experiencing a change in attitude when it comes to the many different methods of generating electricity in an environmentally friendly manner.
Also, rising bills help to concentrate the mind. In NZ the cost of energy bills have soared due to the diminishing resources of fossil fuels.
At the moment, New Zealand's main sources of energy, are oil and hydro power. Other significant sources of New Zealand energy include coal, gas, geothermal and thermally generated electricity.
However, such is the shortage of these fuels, New Zealanders are now considering alternative and renewable energy sources, such as wind power and solar panels.
Greenpeace applaud New Zealands embracing of renewable energy sources - such as solar power - which lessens the damage done to the environment and which are sustainable.
Solar panels coupled with wind power are the two most viable options. Greenpeace claims solar energy could supply nearly 25% of global electricity needs by 2040. This really is the future!
There aren't a huge amount of solar installers in New Zealand but I expect this to change as attitudes change.
