Solar Energy In Ireland

solar energy in ireland, solar power, solar energy, ireland

The use of Solar Energy in Ireland and the UK has increased significantly in both the residential and commercial sectors over the last decade.

Solar water heating systems are the most popular form of solar energy used in both Ireland and the UK.

Families will normally spend around 25% of their electricity bill on hot water heating. Solar water heating systems can provide around 70% of a household's hot water requirements during the course of the year.

Although through the coldest winter months a solar water heater may only provide around 25% of your hot water needs, during the summer season 100% of your families hot water needs can be provided for.

So, as you can probably work out, the cost of a solar water installation could be recouped in as quickly as 5-6 years. Given that a Solar Panel installation could last up to 20-25 years, customers would be expected to make considerable savings during the life-time of their system.

And it gets even better!...

SEI are a Government body responsible for promoting the development of solar power in Ireland and they offer a range of green initiatives and grants on their website. For more information go to our page on solar energy in Ireland grants.

However, if you still find the cost a little steep you could always fit your own if you know a bit of DIY. This will eliminate the most costly part which is the installation of your system. For more information click here.
