Cash incentives available for New Yorkers

New York and Long Islanders will benefit from an incentive through the Energy Smart Solar Electric System Incentive Program and the Long Island Clean Energy Initiative.

Long Islanders will receive around 40% of the solar system price, while New Yorkers will receive around 50% of the solar system price.

Unfortunately, the programs fund only solar PV systems and not for Solar Hot Water systems.

Tax Credits and Property Tax Exemption

The State of New York offers a 25% tax credit capped at $5,000. And they have also extended Property Tax Exemption through to 2011.

Electric savings

If your solar PV system produces more energy than you use, the extra electricity is used as cash credits on your electricity bill.
