New Jersey solar energy advocates received a timely boost when the State Assembly passed a bill that requires developers in the state to offer solar energy to new homebuyers. This will make it easier for households to install solar panels.
The bill was unanimously passed stating that developers will now be required to explain the economic and environmental benefits of installing solar panels into new buildings.
Matt Elliott, at Environment New Jersey said, "Solar is a proven technology that can put New Jerseyans back to work and reduce our dependence upon dirty and dangerous power plants. We need to seize every opportunity to grow our solar market, and this bill is an important piece of the strategy."
"Today, we have close to 3,700 solar projects across the state. Now it’s time to kick it into high gear and really plug into the sun. This bill, combined with other new laws and incentives for solar power, can help move us toward a day when 100% of our electricity is clean and renewable."
Second only to California when it comes to solar energy, New Jersey is trying to make solar panels accessible to everyone by passing this bill, coupled with its healthy rebates.
Benefits
This latest bill offers the homeowner several benefits;
Solar panels cost far less expensive when incorporated into new buildings.
Homebuyers can incorporate the cost of their solar panels into their tax-deductible home mortgage, reducing many expensive up-front costs.
Homes can be designed and constructed to maximize the solar panels efficiency.
More and more legislation such as this seems to be happening in the US and that can only be a good thing for the environment.
