Whilst a number of state governments offer incentives and rebates to their people who install solar power systems, Nebraska has been lagging way behind.
Nebraska has some catching up to do on the solar front, but the state has the potential to become a real growth area for solar energy as federal initiatives work their way through the pipeline and influence state situations.
These rebates can greatly cut the total costs of a solar power system. While options from the state of Nebraska are limited, the 'Dollar and Energy Savings Loan' program offer slow-interest (5% or less) loans to residents purchasing renewable energy equipment and making other home improvements.
You can easily save a good portion of your bill for your solar power system. Loan amounts for residential solar power systems are between $35,000 and $75,000.
The future
Oddly enough, Nebraska ranks relatively high among the states in solar power potential which begs the question 'why isn't more being done'?
Wind power though, represents a big growth opportunity for Nebraska renewable energy enthusiasts. Nebraska ranks sixth among the states in wind resources, sitting in the midst of a wind corridor stretching from Canada to Texas.
This could also be used to create lots of green electricity.
