Irish solar power grants are administered by The Greener Homes Scheme, part of Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI).
Its aim is to increase the use of renewable energy in Irish homes through attractive grants for solar panels. The Government believes that this will help people install technology such as solar energy which will accelerate the development of a long term market.
This in turn will help the Irish Government to reduce carbon emmissions whilst giving its people a chance to save both money and energy.
The Greener Homes Scheme - now in Phase III - is open to homeowners who would like to retro-fit or install a new renewable energy heating system in their existing home. New builds are not eligible for this scheme. And you can only have one grant per household.
The Irish solar energy grants will be provided to homeowners only after the product has been approved and registered with the SEI.
Also, grants will only be issued if you use an installer who has registered with SEI at the time of application and at time of system commissioning.
Certain companies will manage the Grant application for their customers from start to finish, thus ensuring that the details are completed correctly and there is no risk of delay in the process.
