Welcome to my web site. My name is Garfield. That's me in the picture above, in a second hand record store in East Village, New York.

A Solar Warrior

I have always loved the sun. From family holidays as a child to lazy days on the beach, I have always been fascinated by the sun and it's life-giving properties. I think this is where my interest in solar power stems from.

Now I am not some Professor of Engineering or similarly highly qualified expert. I'm just a normal person who has an avid interest in renewable forms of energy and their ability to help relieve the strain that has been placed on our Planet through the over-reliance of fossil fuels. I guess some would call me a hippy.

I started up this web site about 18 months ago from my bedroom. It was just a small web site that briefly explained the benefits of solar energy. You see, my hippy instincts of saving the world were tempered by that other well-known hippy trait....laziness!

However, such was the interest in my little solar energy web site that it kind of took on a life of its own. Since those early days, it has grown into one of the largest solar power portals on the internet. And with that comes a lot more work.

Not that I'm complaining anymore of course. If I'm busier with this site, it means more people are visiting my site and taking an interest in solar energy. And that can only be to the benefit of our Planet.

Do what you love

It is a great feeling knowing you are doing something for the environment that we all live in. An environment that we have to pass on to our children.

The environmental well-being of our planet is a passion of mine. But so is travelling. Complete with its massive carbon footprint! So running this web site eases my conscience a little.

And it also helps my bank balance as well. Travelling isn't cheap so to have a secondary income is always comforting. Hopefully, if my site keeps on growing as it is, I'll even be able to give up my day job. Then I really can lounge around like a hippy all day!

So before I say goodbye, I'd just like to say a big thank you to Dr Ken Evoy and his SBI team for giving me the chance to do what I love, whilst getting paid for it.
